  • What Is The Smallest Image I Can Project?

Want to know the smallest size image your projector can create?

Most traditional projectors struggle to project anything less than A4 size images whereas the Pico Genie range of projectors can project ultra small images as low as 12cm x 12 cm in sharp focus with an ultra bright image just 10cm away from the screen.

Here is a contrast of the Pico Genie P50 Pro projecting at 12cm square versus the A4 standard image (45 cm away).

It’s ideal for artists or anyone wanting to use a projector for creative installations in small places as the projectors are not much bigger than match boxes and have good battery power as well.

The Pico Genie P100 is also very popular with artists and used for installations in museums and visitor attractions around the world or for creative pieces hidden inside sculptures.

  • Want To Enhance Your Brain with 3D Media?

Enhance Your Brain with 3D Media!

New research has suggested that watching 3D media can enhance your brains cognitive processing and improve your reaction times! Visual-tech company RealD and a group of neuroscientists say that watching a 3D film can give viewers a 23% incease in cognitive processing and an 11% increase in reaction times.

The tests were carried out at Vue’s Picadilly cinema in London. Participants in the test were shown 30 minutes footage of Disneys new film Big Hero 6. First in 3D and then the same footage in 2D. Results proved reaction times were 5 times higher than that of watching same 2D footage. Neuroscientist Patrick Fagan said “people are living longer and there’s a decline in cognitive brain function in old age... The inital results of this study indicate that 3Dfilms may potentially play a role in slowing this decline.”.

Are you ready to explore the potential of 3D technology in your own home? Check out our Pico Genie M400 Pro mini projector!

  • Want to Wirelessly Connect Your Apple Device to a Projector? Check out the below options

Apple are rumoured to be releasing the new Apple TV 2 in September 2015 alongside the new iPhone 6s. The new hardware is set to include Siri, meaning you can command your TV/projector with your voice alone! And it will even chat back... just like the iPhone... How cool is that?!

Apple TV provides the perfect solution to connecting your Apple devices to your portable projector. If you are looking to connect your iPhone / iPad / iPod / MacBook Pro to a projector or TV to get a big screen from a tiny device then look no further.

Here are the different options to wirelessly connect Apple devices:

    MacBook Pro/Air

    1. Apple TV- Connect the Apple TV directly to the projector via HDMI. This then acts as a wireless HDMI link to your MacBook Pro/Air
    2. Wireless Chromecast Dongle- Connect the dongle to the projector via HDMI. This then acts a wireless HDMI link to your MacBook Pro/Air  (check out this computer world article for a list of the top 10)

    iPhone / iPad / iPod

    1. Apple TV- Connect the Apple TV directly to the projector via HDMI. This then acts as a wireless HDMI link to your iPhone / iPad / iPod
    2. Wireless Chromecast Dongle- Connect the dongle to the projector via HDMI. This then acts a wireless HDMI link to your MacBook Pro/Air  (check out this computer world article for a list of the top 10)

  • ‘Open up your iPhone…’ – now including iPhone4

Please note, the Adapt 450/Pro is now only available in Harrod's. However, we do have an exciting range of other Palm Projectors, including the XGA M100 model - now available from our online store!

Last month, we looked at how you can 'open up your iPhone with the Adapt 450' using a solution recommended by crowdedbrain.co.uk. The 'Jailbreak' suggested allows you to project from your iPhone - an ideal portable solution for presentations. Here's a recap:

Crowded Brain recommend ‘Jailbreaking’ your device, for those users still on iOS 4.0.1 or lower. You can just head over to jailbreakme.com on your device and follow the instructions. After this you can install a small app called ‘TVOutTuner’ and abracadabra you’re away!

Brett over at Crowded Brain has now found a solution for the iPhone 4:

You can now Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with Limera1n.

With the above installed you can truly open up your iPhone/iPod Touch by displaying any screen from your operating system, for example a word document (using Documents To Go) or playing a game.

Excellent news! Read the original blog here.

  • 'Open up' your iPhone with the Adapt 450

Crowded Brain recently gave an extensive review of the Adapt 450 Pro Projector, which received a ‘Recommended’ Award. The Tech Reviews/News website concluded that the 450 is a ‘a really nifty portable projector’. In addition to the review, Crowded Brain offered some top tips about using the personal projector with the iPhone and iPod Touch:

“When we spoke to Personal Projector a short while ago they also lent us an iPhone/iPod Touch TV-out cable. We then got talking about how useful such a cable would be, given that Apple restricts the output to iPod functionality only, thus leaving the rest of the phone unusable when displaying content such as word docs... With the iPhone Jailbreaked and the small projector in place, they both make an ideal portable solution for presentations!”

What’s a 'jailbreak' you may ask?

"A jailbreak is simply the ability to run apps and use themes and tweaks not approved by Apple. Jailbreaking doesn't slow down your device or use any extra battery. A jailbreak lets your device be how you want it" (jailbreakme.com)

Crowded Brain recommend ‘Jailbreaking’ your device, for those users still on iOS 4.0.1 or lower. You can just head over to jailbreakme.com on your device and follow the instructions. After this you can install a small app called ‘TVOutTuner’ and abracadabra you're away!

Crowded Brain’s suggested solution means you can ‘truly open up’ your iPhone or iPod Touch, now able to display any screen from your operating system...a word document...Angry Birds...whatever you need or fancy. This yet again demonstrates the 450’s appeal for both business and pleasure.

  • Adapt 450 Pro Review and Award

This week Crowdedbrain.co.uk reviewed the Adapt 450Pro, our ultra light palm projector ideal for business or leisure. It was given a brilliant 8/10 and a ‘Recommended’ award. We have collated some snippets of the review for your convenience below, or you can head over to Crowded Brain for extensive analysis complemented by video footage!

“The Adapt 450 Pro is a really nifty portable projector, given its size it will be ideal for those who need to conduct PowerPoint presentations on the fly.”

Crowded Brain’s praise for the product spec:

    *Robust build quality

*Bright and could be adjusted to view dark films really well

*Has built-in SD card/USB stick reader.

*Image quality was respectable during all-tests (DVD, TV, Laptop and Console).

*Built-in speakers are good and when viewing TV can be adjusted to different surround effects, such as cinema

*Can display quite a large image onto any service (150Inch)

*TV Tuner could pick up 67 Freeview channels when plugged into wall socket

*Can run off the supplied battery

“Its cost is still quite high, but when you consider that it uses LED technology, you won’t have to fork out for replacement bulbs, so in this sense the cost evens itself out overtime.”

Our full spec of the 450Pro can be found here. Thanks to Crowded Brain for the review.

  • Congratulations! A quick interview with the Adapt 450 Pro World Cup competition winner.

Despite a disappointing World Cup (unless you're from Holland!) there is still one English winner. To celebrate the release, and popularity, of the Adapt 450 Pro we set a competition to see how you would use the Worlds first micro projector with in built Digital TV and 150 inch screen to watch the football.

Congratulations go to Gordon, from Selby - who gave us the best answer. He proved that even though we wouldn't end up watching the football, we could always use the Adapt 450 Pro for so many other things. Gordon wins a FREE Gorilla Tripod worth £30!

Want to read the original blog, you can can click here. Or, keep reading to see my quick interview with Gordon.

    --

    Katie

Congratulations on winning the tripod! What made you enter the Adapt 450 Pro World Cup competition?

    Gordon

Thank you very much. I was told by a friend to read the Adapt 450 Pro blog and leave a comment, and by doing so I would be entered into the competition. I thought why not, and if I win I can put the tripod to good use.

    Katie

How do you feel knowing you've won?

    Gordon

I feel honored, and also excited as I've never won anything before.

    Katie

It was a really thought out answer. But, you mentioned that you're not a football fan, did you watch the England games at all?

    Gordon

Yes I watched parts the game against Germany to see if we made the final 16

    Katie

The competition was to celebrate the release of the Adapt 450 Pro - The worlds first 100 lumen pico projector with on board Digital TV, 1.5hour battery, USB and SD card connections, 150 inch screen and 4w speakers. What is your favourite feature?

    Gordon

The built in Digital TV has to be my favourite feature, as it means you can free up space where your TV would be and get a bigger picture.

    Katie

You are obviously a keen movie fan. Can you tell me the ideal situation you'd use the Adapt 450 Pro for?

    Gordon

I'd definitely use the Adapt 450 Pro for watching films. It's got the large cinema style screen feel, it won't cost you £15 to sit next to the annoying person opening sweets, and bobbing up and down of peoples head as they let someone out to use the loo. Also I'd use it for going on Xbox Live. The size of the screen helps a lot. You can see that sneeky enemy far quicker, plus it'll draw you into the game and give you feeling that you are actually there.

    Katie

Well thanks for your time Gordon! Don't forget to tell all your friends about your win!!

    Gordon

    Thanks Katie, I will.

  • The future of projectors: SixthSense technology

Take a look at this amazing video by Pranav Mistry, who talks about using a projector in a SixthSense way. He has developed technology which use gestures to interact with technology.

    About this talk

At TEDIndia, Pranav Mistry demos several tools that help the physical world interact with the world of data -- including a deep look at his SixthSense device and a new, paradigm-shifting paper "laptop." In an onstage Q&A, Mistry says he'll open-source the software behind SixthSense, to open its possibilities to all.

    About Pranav Mistry

Pranav Mistry is the inventor of SixthSense, a wearable device that enables new interactions between the real world and the world of data.

    What we think

Pico projectors have so much potential to be used with technology such as this. They have already been combined with other technologies (the Adapt 450 Pro includes on board digital TV) and the opportunities are endless.
The number of outlets this could be used for is astounding too. If it were to be used in schools, students could interact with the subject in a whole different way for hands on learning.
Businesses could share and update information quickly and easily, a portable touch screen for business on the go.
And even personal use, the popularity of portable devices such as the iPhone or iPad have already proven that there is a high demand for information on the go. And lets face it, you would look so much cooler using this.

Our favourite bit? Definitely when he flicks the information onto his computer screen!
