  • ‘Open up your iPhone…’ – now including iPhone4

Please note, the Adapt 450/Pro is now only available in Harrod's. However, we do have an exciting range of other Palm Projectors, including the XGA M100 model - now available from our online store!

Last month, we looked at how you can 'open up your iPhone with the Adapt 450' using a solution recommended by crowdedbrain.co.uk. The 'Jailbreak' suggested allows you to project from your iPhone - an ideal portable solution for presentations. Here's a recap:

Crowded Brain recommend ‘Jailbreaking’ your device, for those users still on iOS 4.0.1 or lower. You can just head over to jailbreakme.com on your device and follow the instructions. After this you can install a small app called ‘TVOutTuner’ and abracadabra you’re away!

Brett over at Crowded Brain has now found a solution for the iPhone 4:

You can now Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with Limera1n.

With the above installed you can truly open up your iPhone/iPod Touch by displaying any screen from your operating system, for example a word document (using Documents To Go) or playing a game.

  • 'Open up' your iPhone with the Adapt 450

Crowded Brain recently gave an extensive review of the Adapt 450 Pro Projector, which received a ‘Recommended’ Award. The Tech Reviews/News website concluded that the 450 is a ‘a really nifty portable projector’. In addition to the review, Crowded Brain offered some top tips about using the personal projector with the iPhone and iPod Touch:

“When we spoke to Personal Projector a short while ago they also lent us an iPhone/iPod Touch TV-out cable. We then got talking about how useful such a cable would be, given that Apple restricts the output to iPod functionality only, thus leaving the rest of the phone unusable when displaying content such as word docs... With the iPhone Jailbreaked and the small projector in place, they both make an ideal portable solution for presentations!”

What’s a 'jailbreak' you may ask?

"A jailbreak is simply the ability to run apps and use themes and tweaks not approved by Apple. Jailbreaking doesn't slow down your device or use any extra battery. A jailbreak lets your device be how you want it" (jailbreakme.com)

Crowded Brain recommend ‘Jailbreaking’ your device, for those users still on iOS 4.0.1 or lower. You can just head over to jailbreakme.com on your device and follow the instructions. After this you can install a small app called ‘TVOutTuner’ and abracadabra you're away!

Crowded Brain’s suggested solution means you can ‘truly open up’ your iPhone or iPod Touch, now able to display any screen from your operating system...a word document...Angry Birds...whatever you need or fancy. This yet again demonstrates the 450’s appeal for both business and pleasure.

  • Adapt 450 Pro Review and Award

This week Crowdedbrain.co.uk reviewed the Adapt 450Pro, our ultra light palm projector ideal for business or leisure. It was given a brilliant 8/10 and a ‘Recommended’ award. We have collated some snippets of the review for your convenience below, or you can head over to Crowded Brain for extensive analysis complemented by video footage!

“The Adapt 450 Pro is a really nifty portable projector, given its size it will be ideal for those who need to conduct PowerPoint presentations on the fly.”

Crowded Brain’s praise for the product spec:

    *Robust build quality

*Bright and could be adjusted to view dark films really well

*Has built-in SD card/USB stick reader.

*Image quality was respectable during all-tests (DVD, TV, Laptop and Console).

*Built-in speakers are good and when viewing TV can be adjusted to different surround effects, such as cinema

*Can display quite a large image onto any service (150Inch)

*TV Tuner could pick up 67 Freeview channels when plugged into wall socket

*Can run off the supplied battery

“Its cost is still quite high, but when you consider that it uses LED technology, you won’t have to fork out for replacement bulbs, so in this sense the cost evens itself out overtime.”

Our full spec of the 450Pro can be found here. Thanks to Crowded Brain for the review.
