The YouTube video below is seemingly from Disney's research centre in Pittsburgh and shows their latest venture into augmented reality with the help of a pico projector and a children's story book.
This very cool idea shows how a pico projector (with a little Disney modification magic) can read hidden codes on the page to signal which images the projector should output. This in turn creates an interactive and animated story that can be experienced at the touch of a button, a truly revolutionary approach to a bedtime story. Using projection in this way also has potential applications beyond Disney and beyond story books, imagine playing your favourite board game with interactive feedback or even downloadable scenarios that make the game / book different each time you read it.
Well done Disney, we love it.
